Years in Senior Living: Since 1982. I began my senior living journey 28 years ago at John Knox Village. After several years as a CPA at Ernst & Whinney, I returned to senior living operations at United Methodist Homes of New Jersey, Presbyterian Homes and Services of New Jersey, and Southern California Presbyterian Homes.
Areas of Responsibility: The whole package - operations, budget, long-term planning, accounting, financial feasibility, insurance, organizational restructuring, and risk management to name a few areas. My broad history in many different aspects of senior living has afforded me an extensive base of knowledge that I am able to put to use everyday on behalf of New Life and our clients.
Educational Background: I have a life long love of learning and received two under-graduate degrees in business from the University of Maine, an M.B.A. from Syracuse University, and an M.A. in Gerontology from the University of Southern California.
Leisure Time: When time permits, I am a wine enthusiast, soccer referee, USC fan, margarita consumer, woodworker and licensed pilot. I enjoy spending time with my wife Mary and our children, Connor, Leslie and Dawn.
President
Years in Senior Living: Since 1987.
Areas of Responsibility: Marketing, client relations, managing New Life
What intrigues me about senior living: No two days are the same. Our field incorporates all the multi-dimensional aspects of human lives as well as the creative fields of architecture and design, the technical fields of health care and regulatory compliance, and the functional fields related to hospitality and service delivery. You have to love to multi-task to love senior living. I feel that we absolutely offer solutions and a better standard of living because of the engagement, social life, and safety net that is the underlying intangible of what we create.
Educational Background: B.A., Drew University, Madison, NJ
Leisure Time: My creative time is spent with family and friends, primarily volunteering and cooking. We live in an active community where involvement is expected and we specifically chose this community for that. I would say that whether for work or personal life, community is my passion.
Senior Vice President of Marketing
Years in Senior Living: Since 1997.
Areas of Responsibility: I have more than 30 years experience in sales, management and development. I took these skills and made a career change to the Senior Living Industry 12 years ago. It was the best move I ever made. I love what I do. Working with seniors is truly inspirational. I have met so many wonderful and interesting people. Playing a small role in helping to improve their lives is really an honor. I started as a marketing director for Long Island's first Lifecare community and have since been instrumental in planning, developing and marketing oversight of a number of start-up communities on a national level. I have also been involved with repositioning and turn-around for many existing communities, many of them facing serious census problems.
I have served on the Board of Directors for numerous service organizations and sat on the Retirement Housing Subcommittee and Task Force of the NY Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. My first love and real strength however, is working closely with a sales team to ensure their success through training and commitment necessary to meet aggressive goals that often times are challenging, especially in a tough economy.
Educational Background: I went to Gwynedd Mercy College in PA and finished at Stony Brook University in NY.
Leisure Time: I enjoy spending my spare time with family and friends, especially my new granddaughter. I also love tennis, golf, walking, reading, the beach and so much more. Dining out and traveling are high up on my list as well.

Leisure Time: I enjoy reading novels and traveling. I guess I'm an escapist. I've visited nearly every state, most Canadian provinces, two Caribbean islands, England, France and Italy. Whenever possible, in a new city, I tour a senior living community. We all appear to do the same thing, but it is amazing how many different ways there are to do it!
